Why Insurance? It all started back 45 years ago in Naperville, Illinois when John Matsock & Associates was founded.
Growing up in an "insurance family" Mark left for Arizona State University and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Insurance from the College of Business. His first job was as a group representative with Great West Life, a major North American Group Health Insurance Company. In his 4 year stint he led the company's national sales force in group for 3 of the years in cases sold. It was time to move on.
Mark opened the Phoenix office of Amos Lovitt Downey & Touche (ALD&T) when they were the largest insurance agency in the state.
His knowledge and need for a Phoenix based company resulted in the formation of Mark J. Matsock & Associates.
Quoted as "the greatest place to work next to Disneyland". Mark has grown the business utilizing his keen awareness of agency profiles and corporate models.
In a business filled with negative connotations; Health, Death, Disability--the "we care attitude" was finely tuned.
His national recognition for his understanding of the key mechanics to a successful self funded program have been well recognized by national insurance carriers and national corporations alike.
His passion for education and communication of benefits to the employee level and understanding is recognized in his relationship to CCP(Corporate Cardio Program). Mark focuses on a strong healthy business profile for his clients.

Steve H. Miller

Mr. Miller has over 30 years experience in the employee benefits field, and specializes in the areas of Self Funding, Managed Care, Consumer Driven Health plans and Qualified Retirement plans and Retirement planning.
Steve has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the University of Oregon. He is a Registered Representative with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), and is currently licensed to effect securities and insurance transactions in several states. He is also a member of the Western Pension Conference, 401(K) Advisors USA, and ASPPA. Currently he is studying for AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) and ASPAA's new OPFC (Qualified Pension Financial Consultant) designations.
Much of Mr. Miller's experience is drawn from a combination of field experience and corporate positions he has held. He has managed customers as small as 5 employees to employers with 20,000 employees. Pension customers, from start up plans to plans with $65 million in assets. After designing and managing literally thousands of customers throughout the entire United States, designing the products major insurance companies distribute, he is uniquely qualified to share his wealth of experience. He has spoken to industry associations and was recently quoted in "The 12 Cliches of Selling" by Barry Farber.
Mr. Miller is married and lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Karen.

Sharon Wilson

With over 20 years experience in the Employee Benefit field, Sharon specializes in partially self-funded groups. At Matsock & Associates, Sharon works with our Partially Self Funded and Large Group Clients as an Account Manager and Financial Analyst.
Prior to joining Matsock & Associates, Sharon attended Arizona State University and worked primarily for Third Party Administrators as an Account Manager. Sharon also spent 5 years at an HMO as the Director of Client Services overseeing the Account Management Team.
Sharon enjoys volunteering at the Animal Shelters and spending the rest of her time with her two dogs.

Jim Klever

Jim is in charge of facilities upkeep and material procurement, as well as Mark's personal assistant. Prior to coming to Matsock & Associates, Jim spent 2 years in Human Resources and one year in underwriting for a local HMO. Jim also was in Human Resources for a local Call Center. Prior to working in HR, Jim was in the restaurant industry for 20 years. Jim enjoys spending his spare time with his 3 children and traveling.

Kim Hunt

With over 5 years in the employee benefits area working with Matsock & Associates, Kim has experience in all phases of Small Group and Individual Health Care plan implementation. While working with top management companies representing manufacturing, wholesale, retail, non-profit and service industries, her main focus is in servicing and assisting group employers and their employees with any questions or concerns they may have with their benefits.
Prior to coming to Matsock & Associates, Kim spent 5 years with a local homebuilder as their Customer Services Manager. She also spent 4 years in the Provider Relations Department for National Vision Services (Avesis).
Kim is an active athlete and enjoys spending her spare time with her children.

Lisa Wagner
Key Account Manager

With 8 years of experience in the employee benefits area at Matsock & Associates, Lisa specializes in multi-state and Medium to Large fully insured clients. Her eye for detail and knowledge of state Insurance Laws is a tremendous asset. Lisa also oversees the set up and administration of all the HSA and HRA clients.
Prior to joining Matsock & Associates, Lisa held the position of Account Manager for a local dental insurance company. Lisa also spent a number of years at a HMO in the underwriting department.
Lisa is an active member of GPAHU and the NAHU in Phoenix. In her spare time she enjoys camping with her family.
